Figma AI Skill Library, Save Tokens with Caveman, and the Million Dollar Toilet

Dear Reader,

A lot happened these last 2 weeks while you were relaxing on the beach.

Let's get you caught up!

The new Figma AI skills library

Figma launched an AI Skills Library. Discover these skills (guided prompts you can use in agents) to unlock new ways of working from research to handoff. Check it out here to see what the community is making with Figma AI.

Get your AI to speak like a caveman

Caveman.so is your efficiency operating stack for AI. Caveman watches your traffic, applies every optimization automatically: caching, compression, routing. Then it proves what it saved. If you're sick of wasting tokens on cute, wordy Claudlish responses, check it out.

A millionaire from project-mapping toilets?

Nick Greenawalt was an unemployed motion designer that had a weird idea. He decided to sell ad space on his projection-mapped toilet, and it worked. He's already made $120,000 with corporate sponsors from Four Loko to Clorox. Follow his journey on milliondollartoilet.com

EBITDA

EBITDA stands for earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization. Basically, it's what the business earns before all the finance and accounting jazz hands.

Why does it matter? Mature companies get valued as a multiple of their EBITDA, so a dollar saved this quarter is worth 5 to 10 dollars in company value. If you ever wondered why cost-cutting sails through while your research project gets delayed, it might be EBITDA.

The Great Bubble Barrier

The Bubble Barrier is a groundbreaking new technology that uses an underwater bubble curtain to funnel plastic pollution to collection points. Learn more about it here.

Prompt that generates the design to avoid:

If you feel like AI creates generic designs, you're right. This prompt harnesses the stereotypical approach in a way that you can use to differentiate.

Under these conditions, show me the most stereotypical design you’d come up with nine times out of ten.

IBM Deep Blue vs. the chessmaster

The Centaur Strategy Dear Reader, Garry Kasparov's hands begin to sweat. Garry is the world's greatest chess player, but he has run out of moves. His opponent sits there, quietly waiting for Garry to hand him the victory. Garry realizes it's over...not only is he going to lose this game, chess has just changed forever. That's because Garry's opponent was an AI. Garry struggling, from Brittanica On May 11, 1997, the world's leading chess player got beat by IBM's Deep Blue chess program, and it...

Founder of... Dear Reader, With all the hype around the new role designer/builder, it's worth looking at what that role looks like when you cut out the middle man. By that I mean, you build for yourself rather than your employer. I saved this on my Tumblr back in 2014: Think about how much harder it was to become a designer/founder in 2014 vs. 2026. That's great news, but the bad news is that the title "designer" has never been more uncertain. I'm bullish on designers in the age of AI. I'm...

Fountain Institute Vision

How the Fountain Institute Started and Where It's Going by Jeff Humble Dear Reader, In case you missed it, Hannah dropped a pretty big announcement in the last newsletter. How it started The Fountain Institute started when two friends decided to grab a beer and work...then kept doing it for 7 years. There were many false starts along the way. Starting...
